Butterfly Wing Earrings

Oh no! I just realised I haven't blogged for over a year!
....poor little neglected blog :)
So it's about time I show my Butterfly Wing Earrings!

  These are super light-weight and are all hand etched, and I've made them in lots of different colors...both black based and fabulous translucent.  I LOVE them!

Like most of my earrings, they do not have glued on bails and so can safely be worn 24/7.  And of course, I have handmade the hooks myself from Argentium Sterling Silver.

My Stall Makover

I have been doing markets for a long time...Lately I took a critical look at my display and decided I really need a makeover!

I found these in our barn, hidden away under years of dust and neglect. They are Depression Era Furniture that had been passed down through my husbands family.

These had all been handmade by my husbands grandfather in the early 1930's.
The small chest of drawers had been made from a kerosene chest.  The middle piece is an old fishing box, and I just love the roughly made stool.

So I spent some time cleaning away the grime, and just very lightly painting and restoring...but trying to leave as much of the rustic look and patina as possible. And then I made display inserts and turned them into this!

To give my stall a whole new look I also made added brown tablecloths laid on a diagonal, to help break up all the black.  And I made all new signage in warm browns instead of the bright colours I had before.

And I also bought this beautiful large shelve display ...it folds up easily for transporting, and looks so fabulous and eye-catching. It also has lots of wrought-iron swirls which ties in nicely with a lot of my other jewellery displays. It's like it was made for my market stall!

We were at the Bull&Barrel festival yesterday, and it was our first time setting up my newly made-over stall. 

I had first set it up how I had played with it at home, but after it was all in place I realised that it was all wrong...the people were coming in a different direction and I had a wall blocking the view.

So, much to my husbands annoyance, we quickly flipped the layout and re-arranged the tables and displays so that my stall was more visible to the passing traffic.

And thank goodness we did! 

I discovered a far better layout...we put the new large stand right at the front, with colourful dangling earrings and a blue glass 'Bargain Bowl' and pretty translucent glass flowers.  The whole look was so eye-catching.

Then I put my best selling Unique 3D necklaces next to the large shelf display, and people just flowed into my stall.  I was amazed! 
We had such a fabulous display.  I had so many compliments on how my stall looked, from customers as well as my fellow stall-holders who have seen my stall before and noticed the difference.
It took a whole week to do the make-over, but I am so pleased I did...I just LOVE it!

Aust Post is increasing shipping!

Unfortunately Australia Post has decided to scrap the international 50-125gm postage rate, and that means that the cost of sending two pendants will now be nearly three times as much as sending just one!
This is going to make a huge difference to a lot of Australian sellers.
I do apologise to my lovely international customers but I will be increasing my etsy shipping costs on Friday19th Oct.

In an effort to keep prices down I've decided to still subside shipping for over 50gm (...2 pendants and over) and will still not be charging as much as it actually costs.

I'll also be setting a maximum shipping price for multiple items (as many pendants as you like in the one transaction) at $6.70. And so I will manually refund back anything etsy charges for shipping after that amount.

My new Etsy 'About' Page

I've finally just created my Etsy 'About' page !
It shows pics of my property, studio and a few other things, so I hope you take a few minutes to have a look :)

Etsy would only allow me to put in 5 pics.
There were some that I could not fit in, so I'll show them here instead.

The first one is of 4 very important hair, furry creatures who share my life...my dogs Kira the border collie, Gypsy the toy poodle, and Patchy Lad and Vance, my two appaloosas.

And the next two pics are just some pendants and earrings that are on etsy at the moment.
They are not particularly good pics so it's probably good I couldn't fit them onto my etsy 'About' page..hehe

New this week...some very pretty earrings, fresh out of the kiln.

I'm really enjoying making earrings lately...
I make the sterling silver hooks as well. And I love all the filing and bending and hammering.
I have a tiny little jewelers anvil, so cute! And I even handmade my own earring jigs to make the perfect size every time :)
And of course, I LOVE to hand etch the glass!
